The state of things

So we went to see Bad Ass Brass the other night and they were absolutely incredible. We’ve never seen so many people dancing to a brass band since the 1930′s and even then our only point of reference are old episodes of ‘Jeeves & Wooster‘. Check reliable college-paper.org written by college students

We’ve got interviews, photos and more on the way as soon as we can figure a way of getting them off Olly’s bloody iPhone.

Also some of you may be wondering where this week’s episode is. In fact all of you must be wondering as I can’t imagine too many of you come to this blog to admire the view. Well it is coming very soon but this week Alasdair is ‘running’ this and Olly is very lazy. Soon dear readers, soon.

bad ass brass

You know a band’s good when they get played on GetJazzical. You know we’re fans when we play them twice. Now, on top of all that, your favourite hosts are about to step out into the public eye to experience the live sounds of Bad Ass Brass. And we’d love you to come too!

Blagclub is the place to be on Saturday 23rd May, with some Bad Ass Brass and smooth cocktails to compliment these hot summer nights … that we’re expecting soon. More information can be found here, and at £5 a ticket, doors open at 20:00.  Saturday night is going to kick off GetJazzical’s Summer of Jazz with a night not to be missed!

Oh, and you can also e-mail them (badassbrass@live.co.uk) to get on the guest list. Stick with us kids – we’ve got all the hook ups.

VIDEO: Giulio Carmassi – SLICK STUFF (Brecker Brothers) in LA

In Episode Six when we played Giulio Carmassi, we mentioned his youtube videos. Carmassi’s musical talent is…unfair. He can play 20 different instruments (including the descant recorder), and has played in rock bands, composed for films, dabbled in Electronica and lived in Italy and LA. Being British, the easiest thing in the world would be to hate him, and we would…if we didn’t love him so much.

Here’s a taster of just how disgustingly brilliant the man is.

Borrowed Quotations

There’s an old Wayne Gretzky quote that I love. ‘I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.’ And we’ve always tried to do that at Apple. Since the very very beginning. And we always will.” – Steve Jobs

And now, if you will, contrast that with this photo of our ‘studio’.  Our hearts, if not our wallets, are in the right place ladies and gents and so are you.  Stay tuned, stay hungry, Get Jazzical.
